I decided to see about possibly hiring a maid (not a politically incorrect term here), to do some things around the house I’d rather not to do. Fortunately, our apartment building’s office manager knew of a lady who was available once a week, which suited me fine. A “once a week” helper in Thailand is rare; it seems everyone else hires full-time or live-in. But Alaric’s thought on the full-time option was, “How much is that going to cost?” Meanwhile, my thought on it was, “How much dirty laundry is going to be aired out on Sukhumvit Road?”
So, upon doing some online and anecdotal research, I found a fair amount of useful information on how to interview, questions to ask, acceptable duties, and so on. That’s how I stumbled upon the following article; a cautionary tale, if I ever saw one. It’s both amusing and sobering, because it sounds improbable, but probably is true.
And to add to the flauntings mentioned in the first few lines of the article, my maid is the queen of all things ironable!
